Nor'Easter Aftermath

National Seashore...This is no day at the beach! The Fire Island National Seashore is littered with debris from the destruction done during this month's Nor'Easter.

Lunch Break

Geese...They are everywhere and multiplying. One begins to wonder just how any life form can poop more than it eats?

Waiting for Vance

Seen in a Window...Walking in mid-town Manhattan the other day when I passed this window scene and thought of brother-in-Law Vance. Quite the Bass Guitar player, Vance could most likely spend the entire weekend in this shop!

Location, Location, Location

Big difference between a house ON the ocean and a house IN the ocean. The recent Nor'Easter caused devastating erosion along Fire Island's coastline. In Davis Park the primary ocean front dune has washed away. The sand that anchored the support pilings for many homes has gone the way of the tide.

Almost Spring

This past Wednesday Central Park was on the verge of "busting out" in all it's Spring glory. I'm sure that this scene will look much more colorful after this glorious sunny weekend.

Sunshine

And the sun came out....After April days of cold rain and winter coats, Spring arrived yesterday with the promise of staying around for awhile!

Tulips with Interest...A little early around here for tulips, I'm sure that this Manhattan variety had a major "push"! 

Nor'Easter and High Tide.... Very close call at high tide as this view across the canal shows. Seems as though Long Island really lucked out this time as the brunt of the storm hit West and North of the area. Now...a little sunshine and some warmer temps would be most welcome! 

April...The day before the rains came! Certainly seems as if Spring is slow getting underway. Heck, the baseball players are wearing ski masks and the trout pond has skim ice! If this 40 degree rain ever stops .....maybe just maybe, the real deal Spring will make an appearance!

Rain and cold... the bane of comfortable fishermen. Only trout dreams lately..... 

Morning Promise...Ahh..the joy of those first cool and crisp April trout mornings. While hope may spring eternal, the fish aren't always interested. Only catches this day were made with a camera lens. 

Overhead!...Celebrating the return of the Osprey. (The detail in the tail feathers is best in the large view) After years of abscence on Long Island, these proud birds of prey are becoming a common and welcome sight.

Mating Ospreys...A pair of Osprey have elected to nest in the chimney top of the Cutting Mansion located at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. The arboretum is located along the Connetquot River, not a bad location for an Osprey! These two birds were not overly shy and spent time sitting in trees just above our heads prior to their little mating dance in the nest. 

Flyby....Tried my luck at fishing for trout this morning and just HAD to bring the camera. The result, of course, was that I did not do either activity very well! This guy and several of his buddies flew rather close to me as I tried to pan with the camera and hold on to my fly rod at the same time...yikes! Lol

Spring Shadows... The hope is that our Spring will bring warmth and chase this last breath of winter.... :-)

Soon... The Sicilian Spring was well underway during early March. In spite of the current chill, our turn is right around the corner! :-)

Time Together...Mother and son with time to share....Priceless. :-)

Beach Bound Greetings...Always reason for hope, even on a gray and cold beach day. :-)
