Seems like every small town in America has a Memorial Day Parade that also marks the unofficial start of the Summer Season. I am inclined to think that this piece of fire fighting equipment has been in more than a few of these annual events.

Great Horned Owl...as an excellent model! The Theodore Roosevelt Bird Santuary in Oyster Bay, Long Island sponsored a photo shoot featuring birds of prey. It was a rare opportunity to photograph these beautiful birds in a natural setting.
So much of Montauk has been "gentrified" that seeing bits of the original and salty way of life can be refreshing. No yacht this, yet somehow it is a pricless icon of the hard working East Enders.
And then the fog lifted...While our stay in Montauk was a foggy one (no pun intended) there were breaks in the visibility that had us both reaching for cameras.

Seen in a Window...Walking in mid-town Manhattan the other day when I passed this window scene and thought of brother-in-Law Vance. Quite the Bass Guitar player, Vance could most likely spend the entire weekend in this shop!
Big difference between a house ON the ocean and a house IN the ocean. The recent Nor'Easter caused devastating erosion along Fire Island's coastline. In Davis Park the primary ocean front dune has washed away. The sand that anchored the support pilings for many homes has gone the way of the tide.
This past Wednesday Central Park was on the verge of "busting out" in all it's Spring glory. I'm sure that this scene will look much more colorful after this glorious sunny weekend.
And the sun came out....After April days of cold rain and winter coats, Spring arrived yesterday with the promise of staying around for awhile!
Mating Ospreys...A pair of Osprey have elected to nest in the chimney top of the Cutting Mansion located at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. The arboretum is located along the Connetquot River, not a bad location for an Osprey! These two birds were not overly shy and spent time sitting in trees just above our heads prior to their little mating dance in the nest.
Flyby....Tried my luck at fishing for trout this morning and just HAD to bring the camera. The result, of course, was that I did not do either activity very well! This guy and several of his buddies flew rather close to me as I tried to pan with the camera and hold on to my fly rod at the same time...yikes! Lol
