Reading Terminal Market

Reading Terminal Market, originally uploaded by Chris S Thorpe.
From Amish to Kosher...if it's delicious you will find it here! Stroll past the freshest of seafood and take in the aroma of just baked warm pies and breads amidst the aisles of produce, preserves and jams. Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market should be on every foodies' bucket list!

Lits

Lits one, originally uploaded by Chris S Thorpe.
On the corner of 7th and Market...Lit Brothers was an iconic Philadelphia department store. Photographed during my recent "return to my roots" tour, it brought a smile to my face.  Sadly, Lits is long gone though the building remains. For generations of Philly Christmas shoppers, long before Malls, it was a required stop!

Eagle

Eagle, originally uploaded by Chris S Thorpe.
People of a certain age who grew up in Philly will recognize this old bird! "Meet me at the Eagle" was how you met up with friends downtown...way before cell phones and text messaging. The Eagle, of course, was located on Market Street in the old Wannamakers Dept. store.

Windy Shore

Windy Shore, originally uploaded by Chris S Thorpe.
No snow but plenty of wind….The arctic blast from the north has created some rather treacherous sea conditions in southern Florida. Small craft advisories have been posted for several days now. Shifting winds from the north and east in the 25mph+ range make for unsafe boating conditions.

Sea Oates Two

Sea Oates Two, originally uploaded by Chris S Thorpe.
Southern Florida has escaped the bitter blast of arctic air that has gripped most of the US. We are hearing that soon things will change rapidly. Palm Beach County will see temperatures in the 80's today, tonight they will plummet to the low 40's! When Floridians look to put on socks you know it's cold!
